About the event

In a world of surprise and uncertainty we best learn to get lost gracefully. To welcome surprise and uncertainty is to be playful.  Thankfully we are gifted with the tools for playfulness in our innate potential to be creative, adaptable, and cooperative.  Infinite Play is a movement exploration of playfulness; there are more questions than answers, and more suggestions than instructions.  With the intention of keeping the play going, rather than playing to win, new discoveries and options emerge.  Infinite Play is an ever-evolving curation of non-competitive games derived from play, dance, and rough housing.  This is the same route to nourishing our innate intelligence that human animals have followed for thousands of years.

This four-hour online seminar will be an exploration of the approach to creating a play container utilized in Infinite Play classes, workshops, and retreats.  There is no methodology or strict structure, but rather ideas and values around the process.  In this way it is more artistic than mechanical.  The seminar will cover the foundations of this process.  The foundational topics to be covered will be listening and sensitivity, facilitating rather than teaching, and finite play vs infinite play.  These topics will be explored through both lecture, discussion, and movement.

Attendees should expect to walk away with a basic understanding of facilitating play, a number of games (individual, partner, and group), and a greater awareness of the value of playfulness beyond movement.  This is not a certification, but rather an educational seminar for teachers of any kind or interested humans.  The intention is to provide tools to bring play back into the world.

“This is the real secret of life -- to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.” – Alan Watts
